Corruption has infected almost everyone in Nigeria, especially those in higher authorities and because of this, crime rates in the country keeps increasing. It was totally disappointing when 14 policemen were arrested for selling arms and explosives to militants and kidnappers.

The police officers were paraded before media agents at Abuja, the police officers have also allegedly conspired with armed robbers, especially the ones in the North East.
The police suspects dismissed were; ex-Assistant Superintendent of Police, Yuguda Abbah; ex-Sergeants Habila Sarki, Diphen Nimmyel, Yasan Danda, Zakari Kofi, Bwanason Tanko, Donan James and ex-Corporals Idris Salisu and Abbas Mailalle
Donald Awunah, The police spokesman, gave a detailed account of the interrogation and confessions of the ex-policemen. He said that firearms recovered comprise of 363 rounds of, 25 live cartridges, AK47 live ammunition, 14 AK47 rifles with their numbers intact, three AK47 with their numbers etched out, one pump action rifle, one locally-made pistol, 42 empty magazines, and 71 K2 live ammunition.

Donald Awunah said, one evasive criminal, Alhaji Hodi Adamu, a nefarious armed robbery suspect was arrested by the police in Adamawa State. He said that it was the confession of this crime that led to the arrest of two other evasive criminals, Rabo Bello and Oliver Honiol. It was when these other two were arrested, that they confessed and named the policemen working with them.
Ex-Assistant Superintendent of Police, Yuguda Abbah, in an interrogation with journalists confessed to the crime of selling AK47 rifles to criminals, but he was not granted further interrogation before he was whisked away with his partners in crime.
Donald Awunah further added that another set of law enforcement officers was also stripped of their ranks for allegedly conniving with nefarious criminals at Kogi State.
He said that further investigation unveiled the fact that “ex-Sgts. Musbahu Yahaya, Ugenlo Sylvester, Musa Umar and ex-Cpl. Omale Edicha collaborated with a notorious kidnapper/armed robber, Zakari Isiaka, to carry out various violent crimes in the state.”
Based on the police investigation, additional exhibits were recovered from the suspects, including one G3 rifle, AK-47 rifle, a Baretta rifle, an assault rifle, two K2 live ammunition, two AK-47 magazines; two G3 magazines and three K2 magazines.
Donald Awunah further added that “On August 16, 2016, four policemen mentioned above, serving with the Kogi State command were arrested for compromising and conspiring with one Zakari Ya’u Isiaka, a notorious armed robber, kidnapper and murderer who has been on the wanted list of the police in Kogi State.
