The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed dozens of Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in Lamboa, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday.

 

Multiple airstrikes by Alpha- Jets, L- 39, and MI- 35 helicopters targeted a well- known terrorist, Modu Sulum, and several others.

Sulum, the ISWAP Logistics Commander, took part in the killing of Abubakar Shekau, the Boko Haram factional commander in May.

He was responsible for the destruction of power transmission towers along the Maiduguri- Damaturu Highway at Malanari, as well as attacks on travellers in Auno and Jakana.

In a convoy of eight gun trucks, the militants had invaded Lamboa in preparation for attacks on the Mainok axis.

After the NAF reconnaissance platform flew over the location to check the targets, ground and air troops canceled their mission.

 

The mission, according to NAF Director of Information Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, was a success.

" Of the eight terrorist gun trucks sighted by our surveillance team, the aircraft took out six and an unconfirmed number of terrorists.

" Nigerian Army troops and our air elements are mopping up the area and assessing the situation" , the spokesman told PRNigeria.

Gabwet praised the energy and synergy displayed by all segments of the armed forces in the North- East theatre.

With the assumption of office of Major General Chris Musa, the New Theatre Commander Operation Hadi Kai, military offensives have increased.

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo has reassured Nigerians that the issue of insecurity in the country will be a thing of the past.

In an interview, Amao discussed the country' s state of insecurity, saying that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has resolved to eliminate such dangers in order to protect the country and make it economically viable.
