The Ooni of Ile- Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has finally reacted to the killing of some Yoruba people from Igangan, Ibarapa by alleged Fulani Herdsmen by saying Yoruba are not fools and show not be taken for granted. The monarch decried the cold murder of some Yoruba people from Igangan as worrisome and some things that should not have happened anywhere in the world.
And in a statement, signed on Monday by his media aide, Moses Olafare, the Ooni condemned the increasing insecurity in the country. He stated that the Yoruba people are law- abiding, and disciplined individuals and not should be taken as fools.
And in the king' s word, he said that " Attacks like this where casualties can visibly trace its perpetrators as from one part of the country can lead to the breakdown of the court perpetrators of these gruesome killings must be fished out of their hiding place and thought a lesson.
The King also urged the government to quickly tackle the issue of insecurity by saying that this is the best time to put ineffective security measures as the protection of lives and properties are the basic responsibility of the government elected into power.
The King indicated that credible evidence showed that there have been plans by some Fulani herdsmen and bandits from Tuareg to overrun some communities in South- West Nigeria. He also added that the Yoruba people are up to the task to protect their land from any invaders that may want to cause havoc in their land.
This statement from the king came after Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu had ordered all amoteku cops to Oyo state in Igangan, Ibarapa to fish out the killer' s herdsmen in the state.
